story
It all began with the simple need for ballyhoo that could withstand trolling for more than half an hour without falling apart. A few years ago, for some reason, we simply couldn’t find good bait in our area. Every bait we got was soft and delicate, even after just salting or being left to brine in basic kosher saltwater. By the time morning came around on game day, the baits would be shriveled, brown, and far less effective—or just trash.
This frustrating situation pushed me to start researching ways to make ballyhoo and other types of dead bait last longer. I wanted to find a method to toughen them up while keeping their fresh appearance and swimming action without turning them brown or unusable. Through extensive trial and error and mixing various blends of ingredients, I eventually developed a few dry brine formulas that consistently delivered great results.
I truly feel these blends add real value to any fishing trip. They help the bait hold together and swim properly during those long, slow fishing days, rather than wasting bait and time. With these solutions, it genuinely feels like you have a bait in the race to catch more fish.
